Baytree School - Shute Farm Studio

	Baytree School - Stone Stars for Memory Garden
	Students from Baytree School in Weston Super Mare made the last of three visits to Shute Farm Studio today. Baytree School is a Special School for young people who have Severe Learning Difficulties and/or Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties.
	The three day course tutored by Kate Semple, began with the students looking at source material based on astronomy and patterns. From this they developed designs to ornament stone stars already prepared for them. The stone was kindly donated by Ian Butterworth, Wessex Dimensional Stone.
	The students were shown the basic techniques of stone carving and with the help of the teaching staff carved their designs on both sides of the star shaped stones. Before leaving the Studio on the last day of the project the children had the opportunity to visit Green Farm to see the cows being milked and to look at the bull and calves. The Students all finished their stones which will later twinkle from the walls of the Star Memory Garden at Baytree School.
